Back on Track!
It's amazing what reading a few good blogs and some heavy-duty introspection can do for you! After posting what I did below (the previous two posts), I went blog surfing and visited WW message boards.

Ironically, almost all of the posts I came upon dealt with exactly what I was going through. SO much good advice to be found and I decided I was NOT going to let this past week get me down, no matter how much I'd gained.

Instead of calling last week a "failure," I've changed my viewpoint to see it as a learning opportunity. If I can learn this much about myself and "reprogram" my thinking all because of a bad week, then it was definitely not a failure!

Knowing that I'm not alone and that what I went through is common was also very comforting. I now feel challenged and motivated. I'm NOT going to let food, or negative thinking, win.

I opened up my 3-month journal to my new week and, like one blog suggested, pretended I was doing WW for the very first time (this helps with motivation). I'm writing EVERYTHING down and thinking positive thoughts.

I'm reminding myself that the small amount of pleasure eating can bring me is not worth the weight gain and guilt that lasts much longer. I'm exercising more and the positive thinking has really turned things around for me.

I've stayed within my points for the past several days and have already lost the weight I'd gained last week. My hope is that I can come out with a net loss from the past two weeks.

I also had a long talk with my husband and shared with him how hurtful the things he had said were. Of course, being a man, he had no idea and felt really bad. He said he's tried to be as supportive as he can and didn't realize how I had taken his words. So that brought me much inner healing and peace, too.

So we'll see how things turn out on weigh-in day. I'm just so proud of myself for these strides I'm making....strides I never could make before. Turning a negative into a positive is a HUGE step for me and it's already showing on the scale. :)

Hi. Just wanted to let you know I'm checking in. I'm glad to see you are bouncing back from some down days!

On your Emotions post-- I have dealt with the same thing with my husband. Before we had kids, I had gained about 40 pounds and he was struggling with my looks big time. During one argument, he even said (to this effect) "if you don't lose weight, I'll probably have an affair." Well, we went to marriage counseling for a year, he worked through most of his selfish-b@stard attitude, and we had our daughter a year later. He never had an affair even though I stayed fat.

Now, finally, after 12 years of marriage and me being overweight for 10 of them, I feel free to lose weight. I TOTALLY didn't lose weight BECAUSE of him for a long time. I felt the way you mentioned--I'll SHOW YOU and by golly you are going to love me no matter what I look like.

After I had my son in 2005 and knew we were done with kids, and that my 40th birthday is only 3 years away, I decided I was going to lose this weight FOR ME. I was sick and tired of being LAST all the time. Everyone came first before me--kids, job, husband. Well, in February of 2007, that is over. I have told myself it's okay to be selfish.

So, I go to my LA Weight Loss appointments 3 times a week. I go to the gym 5-6 days a week. Without fail. For me. I come first, I am being selfish, and it's a very good thing. I'm not losing weight for my husband. I'm losing because I want to look good. For me.

And he just gets the benefits.

One thing my husband noticed about me when I was out of control with food, was that I was very unhappy when I was under food's control. He could tell by how unhappy I was if I was binging and eating junk food and gaining weight. It really wasn't about how I looked so much, but how unhappy I was all the time. Do you think your husband might be wanting you to diet because you are happier around him when you are taking care of yourself? Maybe it's not just about what he thinks you look like, but how you act when you are eating right and exercising. He likes a happy wife. Happy wife comes from eating well and working out. If happy wife means thin wife, so much the better.

    Just a thought.

Keep posting--keep reading blogs. Keep journaling your food. This is NOT a temporary thing you are doing--it's for life.

Thank you for sharing your journey with all of us. As a weight loss coach, I have witnessed women sabotage , deprive, and abuse themselves. And then they wonder why the weight won't come off? I help women lose weight permanently by improving their relationship with themselves, learning to listen to their bodies, and then reassess their relationship with food.

Your decision to view your setbacks as learning opportunities is an important step in lasting weight loss. Continue to talk with kindness to yourself, much like you would to a child. When clients begin to value themselves, the weight inevitably falls off.

    Good luck on your journey!!!

You are an inspiration to women who are trying to obtain their ideal bodies and lives. As a weight loss coach, I constantly tell me clients to view their "binges" or "setbacks" or "fill in the blank" as a non-biased investigator. Find out what's interesting about the incident. Ask, "What can I learn?" The road to happiness (or weight loss) is never through self-sabotage. I'm so glad you are gentle with yourself. You deserve it!!!!

Just came across your blog. Well, my husband left me for a slim, young girl ( affair lasted only 5 months - serves him right!! ). I made an effort then to lose weight- not for him but for my kids esp my daughter who was embarrassed of her "fat" Mommy-sigh!
Good new..I found the perfect solution and I went from my sidewalk cracking 240 lbs to my ideal weight of 130 lbs in under 5 months.

    Lady,
you're my kind of woman! Keep it up!
I don't know if you've heard of the OCD or not, but if you haven't, it sounds like it may be the right thing for you. Here's why:
The way i understand it, it develops good habits that let you live a healthier, longer, and more a productive life; reduce dependence on the medical and pharmaceutical industries; enjoy life; and save a ton of money while doing it, i would recommend you look into “The Old Calabrian Diet” (OCD), which really is not a diet at all.
Adopting the OCD let’s you eat gourmet food 7 days a week, save money, stay lean, healthy, and enjoy sex naturally for a greater part of your life than you thought possible. With this diet women can look like an “hourglass” and men like “manly men.”
And you thought that “Italian Stallion” was just a saying!
By the way, my wife went from size 14 to 12 to 10 to 8. She looks sexier now than she did 20 years ago. She's youthful, and at 61 you'd think she was 41.
    good luck

So many people seem to be struggling to lose weight . . . I just thought I should share my new favorite weight-loss system - Isagenix. My family (parents & siblings) found this after they moved away. At first I hesitated trying it . . . even after they ALL lost weight. But finally my mother convinced me, and starting last month, I began the system. I can't believe I have already lost almost 20 pounds! I was just shy of 200 lbs, which was the heaviest I have ever been, and now . . . 182.4 as of yesterday morning! And its only been 7 weeks. And my husband has lost even more than me! Two months ago I thought this was impossible. I have pain in my hip and neck that really limit my exercise, and I work full time, which makes it hard to find the time to constantly buy and prepare healthy meals. But Isagenix is fast, easy, and very healthy! I spend less on isagenix meals then what I was spending before, and the meals are super fast to prepare. The website is http://reachyourdream.isagenix.com . If you sign up as an associate you get to buy at wholesale prices, which is a lot cheaper! No obligation to sell it, but you can earn $ signing other people up if you just want to. Any questions, just ask me! reachyourdream.isagenix@gmail.com

Good for you! I can relate in so many ways. Husbands can be a little destructive sometimes with their comments and other times they create the motivation needed to give us that boost. Depending on how you choose to take it. My weight loss journey was never easy until recently.I never thought I'd say this but it has now become easy and my husband finally is proud of me. I blog about my experiences and what I am doing. In the beginning my husband thought I was nuts, now he supports it.

I like what you said about last week being a learning opportunity. I left the gym frustrated today after a 21 pound loss as of last Sunday to stepping on the scales and finding myself at the same weight today. If you're honest with yourself, you can pinpoint where you went wrong and adjust accordingly... I know I can anyway. Great post!

Let’s face it. Who wants to be fat, especially women. It is a known fact that obesity in this country has become an epidemic. Why? If you look at TV, you will notice the media is constantly bombarding us with ads about food.

Why are advertising agencies flooding us with so many TV commercials about food, especially about McDonald’s or Burger King? The simple fact is they want you to get fat so you will go out and spend more money on diet pills. This way you can get skinny and then start all over by going back to the fast food joints to get fat again. It is a catch-22 scenario. It is a vicious cycle.

Understand one fact. The heath condition of the majority of people in developed nations has deteriorated to such an extent that it has literally become a crisis. According to experts, about 70% of the adult population living in the U.S is overweight. This means if you are thin and healthy you make up the minority.

This is a sad fact and something that needs to change. To think that the normal way to live is to be out of shape, overweight, and have all kinds of diseases? It is insanity. To think that nine out of ten people are obese is a bad stat. And this is what this country is leading to.

Why is this country leaning toward getting fat? It is because most of us live sedentary lives. Kids are not spending their time running around and playing games outside. Instead, they jump on their video games or spend time surfing the Internet and chatting with friends or others.

Besides the above, people are getting fatter because of the way they eat. They try to grab something quick and end up eating something they should not. Everything that is bought from the store is processed. It is refined. Most foods are packed with chemicals to preserve them for shelf life. We live in a fast-paced world. For this reason people claim they don’t have time to cook or are too tired to. So they grab quick junk foods from corner stores, fast food joints, and restaurants.

The plain and simple fact is that people have become lazy. In order to get out of that, you need to push yourself to maintain your control. You have to act responsibly.

The solution to being overweight is simple. Make smarter food choices, prepare your own meals, and get out and exercise. If you do this, you won’t have to worry about being fat.

If your goal is to lose fat as fast as humanly possible, it should be no surprise that you absolutely MUST learn to maximize the amount of time your body is actually burning fat. After all, if your body is actively burning fat for 10 hours each day, you'd get much faster results than if it were only burning fat for five.
But what if you could literally burn fat twenty four hours a day…every day?
Do you realize how much faster you'd progress? How much more quickly the fat would melt away? How much more rapidly you'd have the body you want?

I'm 55-year-old from Paris, I was diagnosed with second-stage liver cancer following a scheduled examination to monitor liver cirrhosis. I had lost a lot of weight. A CT scan revealed three tumors; one in the center of my liver in damaged tissue and two in healthy portions of my liver. No chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment was prescribed due to my age, the number of liver tumors. One month following my diagnosis I began taking 12 (350 point) Salvestrol supplements per day, commensurate with my body weight. This comprised six Salvestrol Shield (350 point) capsules and six Salvestrol Gold (350 point) capsules, spread through the day by taking two of each capsule after each main meal. This level of Salvestrol supplementation (4,000 points per day) was maintained for four months. In addition, I began a program of breathing exercises, chi exercises, meditation, stretching and stress avoidance.
